The Shock Of An Epiphany (2015)
Pen and laser print on paper, framed
Piece of paper is 8.5 x 11 inches floating in matted wood frame 14.7 x 18.7 x 1.5 inches
In 2015, Shirt made a series of quotes each handwritten on a piece of paper with his website worksite.info printed on the bottom left, and mailed them to the first 100 people who purchased his $3 Museum (2015) LP. In 2022, “The Shock Of An Epiphany,” its full quote, “The shock of an epiphany has been an almost daily occurence since I was young, mystically echoing throughout much of my work,”first attributed to Shirt, then crossed out and attitbuted correctly to the late art director George Lois, was framed by Shirt in a light wood, matted frame he acquired that previously hung a work in The Museum of Modern Art. The last remaining from Shirt’s series on paper, the work has a pen mark on the edge of it on the left side, most likely the reason it was never used for its original intention.
