Reproducing and selling the t-shirt for the first time in 2018, Shirt explained it was his favorite designed by the late artist Virgil Abloh and he wanted more people to get to own one. Announcing his plan in 2018 to restock the t-shirt ‘forever’, in addition the t-shirt’s monochromatic ship graphic and text reading “YOU ACTUALLY FELL IN LOVE WITH AN IMAGE” is also offered by Shirt as an Adobe Illustrator file and is emailed free of charge to anyone that asks. The graphic file can be used however anyone would like. According to Shirt, no information was ever made available about the origin of the graphic, and Virgil is the only person ever photographed wearing the tee. In December, following Virgil’s sudden passing, Shirt shared photos and explained he had been working on covering the t-shirt graphic in pearls only a month earlier.
